Ever wondered what differences does second hand furnitures make?
Help the B40 community furnish their home
B40 Malaysians often struggle to furnish their homes due to their financial situation. They may find themselves sleeping on thin mattresses on the floor and even sitting on the floor while having their meals.
With our affordable prices, we empower the B40 community to have a well-furnished home
Help flood victims and their damaged homes
According to the Department of Disaster Management Malaysia (DDM), an average of 700,000 Malaysians are affected by floods every year. For these victims, replacing their damaged furniture is one of their most significant expenses.
Your unwanted furniture could make a huge difference for them.
Reduce furniture waste & illegal dumping
In 2020, Malaysia generated 1.2 million tons of furniture waste. The vast majority of this furniture will inevitably end up in landfills, where it can take up to 100 years to decompose.
By selling through Unearth, not only you can clear space within your home, but you can also help to save the environment.

The main focus at IKEA and Ikano retail is to make a positive impact on both people and the planet. That's why we're excited to tell you about our collaboration with IKEA.
Together, we're working towards reducing landfill by giving old furniture a second chance. Through this collaboration, we're able to resell, reuse, and find new homes for these pre-loved pieces.
What makes this even more amazing is that a significant portion of the furniture sold by Unearth goes to some of the poorest families in Malaysia. By working together, we can create better homes for more people.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with us!

At Unearth, we have multiple avenues for reselling furniture that comes into our warehouse, located in the Klang Valley, as well as other social media platforms. In addition, we have resellers who help take items out of the station.
We understand that not all furniture finds a new home right away, so if an item cannot be sold, we ensure to recycle it in an ethically and environmentally responsible way.
When a piece of furniture is sold, the income we receive from it is split between you, the customer, and Unearth. It's our way of showing gratitude for your contribution to our mission of reducing furniture waste in Malaysia!

At Unearth, we take the time to assess the condition of used furniture before collection. We want to make sure that we provide you with the best possible service. When it comes to assessing furniture, we consider the following criteria
Furniture should be
Clean
Undamaged structure
Minor scratches acceptable, simple repairs are possible
No missing parts
Not modified
Has not been stored outside
Has not been damaged by pets, scratches, sleeping beds
No water damages.
-
At Unearth, our primary goal is to assist you in clearing your home, while also giving your furniture a second chance at life. We strive to make used furniture accessible and affordable, particularly for the B40 community. While we do our best to maximize the selling price for your unwanted furniture, it's important to note that we have a specific approach.
To ensure fairness for both furniture owners and customers, we set prices based on market rates for secondhand products. This allows us to find a balance that benefits everyone involved. If your priority is to maximize profit and sell the furniture at a price you're completely comfortable with, we understand that our service may not be the best fit for your needs.
We appreciate your understanding and support in our mission to make sustainable furniture options accessible to all.

As we operate on a 50/50 split, we’ll do our best to get the highest price for your items so that we both benefit.
How is my payout calculated?
Collecting your items does come with a cost charged to us by the collection teams - imagine how much Lalamove would charge you for a 3-tonne lorry - BUT we take care of all of that upfront.
Once your items are sold, then we'll split those costs with you 50/50, just like we split the sales.
In the event that your items don't sell, or if we made a bad call and your items sold for lower than expected, we absorb the remainder of the fee - and lose money :(
Which means that your payout calculation is:
(50% of Profits) - (50% of Collection Fees)
The majority of collections end up to be around RM260 cost to Unearth, and RM260 to the supplier (yourself). Unlike us, you don't have to pay those costs upfront.
What goes into the collection fees?
The collection team charges us (Unearth) a flat RM400 per collection, plus additional charges if there's any delays.
For example:
IF they need to disassemble a large 6 foot wardrobe into its individual components - RM120 onwards
IF there's delays in accessing your unit or items - RM120 onwards.
IF they need to call in a backup team or make another trip - RM200
*Details of the charges:-
Furniture Dismantling : RM 120 Per Unit
Difficult Access Charges :
RM 120 - Units requiring 10 mins or less to enter the unit, or 1 Blocker to Item Access;
RM 240 - Units requiring >10 mins to access the unit, or 2 Blockers to Item Access
RM 360 - Units requiring >10 mins to access the unit AND 2 or more Blockers to Item Access
Among scenarios considered Blockers: narrow access, construction, 1 flight of stairs, no lift access, etc etc.
Example of Scenario A:
John requested a collection with Unearth. The items includes a wardrobe, dining table, a TV and a sofa set. He stays on the 22nd floor of a condominium and accessing his unit takes 15 minutes from the service bay.
Only the wardrobe requires dismantling.
The total sale of 3 items are RM 1,500.
(50% x RM 1,500) - (50% x RM 760) = RM 370 paid out to John.
